This policy explains what information youtube-downloader.website (“the Service”, “we”) processes when you use it. The short version: there are no accounts, no advertising cookies, and files are deleted automatically.
1. Who is responsible
The Service is operated by [Operator name], [Country]. For anything related to your personal data, write to [email protected].
2. What we process
- Links you submit. The YouTube link you paste is sent to our server so that we can read the video details and prepare the file you ask for.
- Technical data. Like every website, our server receives your IP address, browser type and the time of each request. We use the IP address to apply fair-use limits and to protect the Service from abuse.
- Prepared files. When you request a download, the resulting file is stored temporarily on our server and is deleted automatically after about 15 minutes.
- Anonymous statistics. We count how many visits, searches and downloads happen per day and per country. To count each visitor only once a day we keep a scrambled (salted and hashed) form of the IP address for the current day; it is erased at the end of the day. The statistics do not record which videos anyone downloaded.
We do not ask for your name or e-mail address, we do not create user profiles, and we do not sell personal data.
3. Cookies and local storage
The Service does not set cookies. Your browser stores one small preference locally (light or dark theme); it never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time in your browser settings.
4. Why we process it, and the legal basis
- To deliver the function you request — reading the video details and preparing the file (performance of the service you asked for).
- To keep the Service secure and available, including rate limiting and abuse prevention (our legitimate interest).
- To comply with legal obligations, for example when handling copyright notices.
5. How long we keep it
- Prepared files: about 15 minutes, then automatic deletion.
- Rate-limiting counters: kept in memory only and discarded within minutes.
- Scrambled visitor identifiers used for counting: until the end of the day. The resulting totals contain no personal data.
- Server logs: up to 30 days, unless a longer period is needed to investigate abuse or a security incident.
6. Who else receives data
- Hosting provider. The Service runs on servers rented from a hosting provider, which processes technical data on our behalf.
- Cloudflare. Traffic to the Service passes through Cloudflare, which protects it against attacks and speeds up delivery. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request data for this purpose and tells us the country a request comes from.
- YouTube / Google. Our server contacts YouTube to retrieve the video you asked for. In addition, the video’s preview image is loaded by your browser directly from Google’s servers (i.ytimg.com), which means Google receives your IP address for that request. Google’s privacy policy applies to that processing.
- Authorities. We disclose information only where the law requires it.
Some of these recipients may be located outside your country. Where required, such transfers rely on the safeguards provided by applicable data-protection law.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. Because we do not hold accounts, we may need additional information (such as the IP address and time of use) to locate any data related to you.
8. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Service changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
