About this tool
ChromeOS does not run traditional downloader programs, and the Chrome Web Store removes extensions that download from YouTube. A web-based tool sidesteps both problems: paste the link, choose a format, and ChromeOS saves the file to Downloads exactly as it does with any other file from the web.
MP4 videos open in the built-in Gallery app and from the Files app; MP3 files play in Gallery too, and you can drop either into Google Drive to reach them from another device.

What you get
Nothing from any store
No Chrome extension, no Play Store app, no Linux setup.
Opens in Gallery
Downloaded MP4 files play in the ChromeOS Gallery app right away.
Easy on your Chromebook
All processing happens on our server, so even a basic model copes fine.
Fine on managed devices
No admin rights needed — as long as the website itself is not blocked.
Questions about this tool
Will it work on my school or work Chromebook?
In most cases yes, provided the administrator has not blocked this site. No extension or special permission is involved.
Where does ChromeOS save the file?
In the Downloads folder of the Files app. From there you can move it to Google Drive.
Can I play the video without Wi-Fi?
Yes. Open the MP4 in Gallery — once downloaded, no connection is needed.
Is there a limit on file size?
No fixed limit, but keep an eye on free storage: 1080p uses about 15–30 MB per minute.
