Save YouTube videos on your iPhone

Download MP4 videos and MP3 audio to the Files app directly from Safari — no App Store app, no computer, no shortcuts to install.

By using this service you agree to our Terms of Service. Download only content you have the right to save.

About this tool

Apple does not allow YouTube downloader apps in the App Store, and YouTube itself only offers offline viewing with a Premium plan. The practical alternative is a web page like this one: it runs in Safari, builds the MP4 or MP3 on our server and delivers it through the standard iOS download prompt.

Your file arrives in the Files app, inside Downloads. You can play it there, share it to another app, or move a video into Photos with a couple of taps. iPad users follow exactly the same steps.

How it works

  1. 1

    Copy the link from YouTube

In the YouTube app, tap Share beneath the video and then Copy link.

  2. 2

    Paste it here in Safari

Tap the field, choose Paste and tap “Get video”. Select MP4 for video or MP3 for audio.

  3. 3

    Confirm the download

Safari asks whether to download the file — tap Download. It appears under the arrow icon in Safari and in Files → Downloads.

What you get

Built around Safari

Uses the standard iOS download prompt — no Shortcuts, profiles or workarounds.

iOS-friendly MP4

H.264 video and AAC audio, so it plays in Files and Photos straight away.

Music as MP3

Audio opens in Files and can be sent to any player app.

Nothing installed

No app, no jailbreak, no account — only a web page in Safari.

Questions about this tool

I downloaded a video but cannot find it. Where is it?

Look in the Files app under Downloads — either On My iPhone or in iCloud Drive, depending on your Safari settings. Safari also lists it behind the downloads arrow at the top of the screen.

Can I move the video into my Photos library?

Yes. Open the MP4 in Files, tap Share and choose “Save Video”.

Will it work if I use Chrome instead of Safari?

It does, though Safari handles downloads on iOS most reliably.

Download does nothing — what should I check?

Confirm that pop-ups are allowed for this site and that you tapped “Download” in Safari’s prompt. If it still fails, use the “Save it manually” link shown after the file is ready.
